Craig Coleman, OAM, CSM

Craig Coleman has more than 30 years experience working in high and extreme risk environments around the world in conflict, post conflict, disaster, development and remote situations. Craig has been involved in operational risk management, crisis response, human resource management, development and reconstruction during service in the Australian Army as a bomb disposal technician and combat engineer and as a business innovator focussing on providing people and capability to operations in Australia and overseas.
Craig is a specialist in identifying and managing operational risk and has a proven record of achieving success where others have previously failed or in projects others will not attempt because of the risk profile. From leading a large scale evacuation of Cambodians and the expatriate community from North-western Cambodia during heavy fighting, to providing operational risk management and implementation strategies to donors and reconstruction organisations in Afghanistan, financial companies with assets in volatile regions and mining companies operating in Australia and around the world. Craig's clients have included governments, mining and construction companies, development organisations, military forces and the United Nations.
Craig has a particular strength in adapting to the environment where he works and this includes understanding issues of ethnicity, religion, culture and tribal systems. This knowledge is used when developing sustainable operations which incorporate local communities into project planning and decision making.
Craig's successful business strategies, approach to operational risk management and personal philosophy have led to his advice being sought by political and industry leaders and to speaking and presenting opportunities in Australian and overseas to Defence, government departments, influential think-tanks and industry organisations. Additionally, Craig regularly provides expert commentary to the media.
Craig's leadership, dedication and experience have been recognised through the awards of the Medal of the Order of Australia and the Conspicuous Service Medal.
